Newport Youth Soccer club is pleased to announce the addition of coach Hannah Kimsey to our coaching staff.
Our DOC Chuck Sekyra introduces Hannah:
“We are very excited to have a coach with Hannah’s background and experiences join our club. Hannah is going to be a wonderful role model and coach for our girls. Just getting back from playing professionally in Europe I am thrilled that she wants to focus full time on coaching. She has a great upside.”
Hannah played at Portland State and Concordia University and was selected All American in 2012 and 2013 as well as achieving NAIA National Player of the year status in 2013. She has since played at the semi-professional and professional level with the Sounders Women and Qbik Futbol club in the Swedish first division.
Most recently Hannah has coached with the Tualatin Hills Soccer Club in Portland.
Hannah will be coaching the girls U11 and U12 Select team for the 2016/17 season. Please join us in welcoming Hannah to our club.

Newport Youth Soccer is proud to announce the appointment of Chuck Sekyra as our new Director of Coaching. Chuck comes to us from Seattle Pacific University, where he excelled as both a player and coach.
As a player at SPU, Chuck anchored the defensive line of two NCAA national championship teams. After earning his degree in Education, Chuck taught and coached at Blanchet and Lakeside High Schools, then spent three years as assistant coach for the University of Washington Women’s soccer team. In 2002 he was appointed head coach of Seattle Pacific University’s Women’s team. During a 12 year stint at SPU, his teams won the NCAA national championship in 2008, appeared in three Final Fours, and won the GNAC Conference nine times. Additionally, he was named NSCAA National Coach of the Year, West Regional Coach of the Year twice, and GNAC Coach of the Year 6 times. His teams had an overall record of 209-34-20. He is simply one of the finest coaches in the northwest and nationally recognized for his outstanding abilities.
Chuck and his family resided in Newcastle until recently, and their daughter Taylor played several years in our club. As Taylor begins her college career at the UW next year, Chuck decided to take some time off from the demands of coaching at the collegiate level to watch her play. When offered the opportunity to stay involved at the grass roots level and mentor the coaches in our club, it was a great fit and he accepted.
As we discussed with Chuck his role at Newport Soccer, what became clear is the passion he has for the game of soccer and his love of teaching. The players and coaches in Newport Soccer are incredibly fortunate to have him as our Director of Coaching. Please join us in welcoming Coach Sekyra to our club!
